White Plains
White Plains is a city in the Hudson Valley region (more precisely: in Westchester County) of the State of New York. The city has excellent train connections to New York City, making it a great base for tourists who are discouraged by the high hotel rates and therefore prefer to travel around.

White Plains is just 10 minutes from the cozy little Westchester County Airport. If you are coming from Europe, however, you can fly cheaper over JFK or Newark. Both airports are around 1 hour away (by public transport). at least 2 hours).

White Plains is connected to the Metro-North transport network. The station is at 16 Ferris Avenue, which is Hamilton Avenue. The Harlem Line trains stop here at Wassaic (north of White Plains) and drive to Harlem-125 Street. Many trains of this line also run directly to Grand Central Station in Manhattan (timetable). The Harlem Line trains run up to 10 times an hour depending on the time of day. For the journey from White Plains to Grand Central Station and back, you will pay either $18.50 or $24.50 depending on the time of day. It is more expensive to drive in the main traffic (NYC 6-10 am, White Plains 16-20 am) than outside of this time. Parking in the garage directly at the station costs $1 per hour.
